Dear BPCWAians, We thank God for seeing many students return back into our midst for the start of a new university term, and for the start of a new school semester for students. For students to learn, teachers play an important role. And this is most critical in the Church of God. So today, we want to understand the role of teachers a bit better, particularly within the church. The Bible tells us what is important in teaching, and in teachers. Uphold God’s Truth. God’s truth is absolute. Teachers of the world present all theories as valid for the student to choose their “preference”. But Bible teachers cannot do so. They must point students to God’s Truth alone. It

This is the Literature Ministry work of First Bible-Presbyterian Church in Myanmar. The aim is to provide sound Christian literature in the Chin language, thus building up believers in our most holy Faith. Compromise and false movements spares no country. This is hence a critical work to increase awareness of false teachings, defend the Scriptures, while stirring believers to love and serve the Lord. The approach is to produce, print, and distribute Christian materials in Myanmar and beyond. BPCWA supports this work through Bethel BPC (Melbourne). We have recently contributed to the purchase of a

The words of this hymn are from Habakkuk 2:20 “But the LORD [is] in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.” Why did we introduce this? Previously, the pianist used to play this after the preparatory hymn. Some might have thought it was a signal or invitation for the worship leader, interpreters and speaker to go on stage. However, this hymn is actually a call to worshippers to prepare our hearts to worship God. We are familiar with this idea even in our public events. Guests may arrive for a key event without announcement,

Unlike worldly philosophers who propound good because of “innate goodness” in man and duties toward society, the honour that Christians give to their earthly parents and to those in authority is because God, Who is our Supreme Authority, has ordained them as our authority. So, obedience to parents is submission to God’s authority over us. Limits of Obedience. While there is a Chinese saying that “Of all virtues, filial piety is the first” nevertheless, a mere moral-ethical view of this can lead to exaltation of man above God. While children have the responsibility to obey parents “in all things” (Col 3:20),
