Dear BPCWA worshipper, When I was young, there was a fairy tale whereby a queen would ask of a magic mirror if she was the “fairest of them all”. The mirror dutifully replied often with what she expected to hear, that it was she. One day, however, the mirror replied that the queen was not the fairest. That truth threw her into a rage, and the sinful actions that followed. I am not advocating fairy tales, much less watching movies. However, the writer behind the tale astutely pointed out something about the underlying sinful human nature – we want to hear what we want to hear and get into a fit when we hear otherwise, even if it is the

This was particularly important as we commemorate our church’s 40th anniversary this year. It was a blessed time together, which ended with several generations commemorating the milestone by taking photographs in front of the projected 40th anniversary logo. It is important that we recall and chronicle God’s reminder to us in 1 Corinthians 3:10-13 and what we must resolve to do as His church in every generation. God’s Word must be a clarion call for this and future generations in BPCWA. Be a

The word of Christ’s resurrection was sent through His messengers, but it was received very differently by the 2 groups. The women, hearing the news of His resurrection “remembered his words” (Luk 24:8). Both groups received the same message but had different responses because they heard

Christ’s resurrection is His victory after being shamed, His glory being made known clearly. It is what completes the work of Christ, for “if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins” (1Co 15:17). Sin brought the penalty of death. As we recounted in our last pastoral, all mankind fell into sin because Adam and Eve thought they knew better than God who warned, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:
