The Faith of the Reformers – Our Reformed Faith

Dear BPCWA worshipper, Do you realise and treasure this heritage that we have from the 1517 Reformation, namely “the Reformed Faith”? In Article 4.1 of our church constitution, it states that “The doctrine of the church shall be in accordance with that system commonly called “the Reformed Faith” as expressed in the Confession of Faith set forth by the historic Westminster Assembly together with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, together with other Biblical doctrines that are not specifically stated in the Westminster Confession.” It is called the Reformed Faith because it truly re-formed the deformed faith propounded by the Roman Catholic Church. The Reformed Faith is nothing but simply what the Protestant reformers, used of God, systematised to bring back

What has light to do with darkness?

Dear BPCWA worshipper, Last week, we saw how, though a new creature, the Christian still needs to continue to have their mind renewed and transformed into God’s image. Anyone who denies the need for continued sanctification after salvation is believing a lie. What used to be mainstream values have so permeated our thinking that even Christians get affected by it. What God ordained for mankind right from the beginning in the book of Genesis has been and is continually attacked. What used to be mainstream Christianity’s beliefs as taught in the Bible, such as the 6-day ex-nihilo creation and fall of man into sin (affected by the world’s belief in evolution), the husband-wife role relationships and woman pastors (affected by

The Battle Between Light and Darkness

Dear BPCWA worshipper, Last week, we saw how sin affected all of mankind with a hatred of God and everything that God says. Fallen man loves darkness rather than light. This darkness refers not just to death, but everything which is against the light of God’s truth. There is a natural aversion to what God says and wants. We saw how everyone who is born into this world has a mind that is alienated from God and needs the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. In salvation, we become “in Christ . . . a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2Co 5:17). Does this then mean that the world’s

An Enveloping Darkness

Dear BPCWA worshipper, Our Lord Jesus made clear that man would love darkness rather than light in John 3:19 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” As October arrives, shops and catalogues start to feature and promote Halloween merchandise. In it, you have pictures of witches, pictures of skulls, ghosts, skeletons, haunted houses, with children and adults making it look fun to be made up with blood splatters, fanged teeth, horns, and ghoulish eyes. This infatuation is not limited to Halloween. At the recent AFL finals, the highlight of the pre-game show was a performance by KISS – a rock group that lives

2023-2026 Session Portfolios

Dear BPCWA worshipper, It has been a busy past few weeks at BPCWA where we have witnessed the good Hand of our LORD upon BPCWA in seeing us through our Annual Congregational Meeting and Triennial elections. Last Lord’s Day, we had the Consecration and Installation of the Session where the new Session members vowed to be faithful to their Lord in service in BPCWA and affirmed their personal convictions about, and hence will support and defend BPCWA’s stand on the Reformed Faith as stated in the historic Westminster Confessions, the doctrines of Verbal Plenary Inspiration and Preservation of Holy Scriptures, Infant Baptism, Pre-millennialism, and the use of only KJV/CUV in the public and private reading and study of God’s Word.
